The Turkish Artificial Intelligence Initiative (TRAI) was established in 2017 to improve artificial intelligence awareness and to develop the artificial intelligence ecosystem in Turkey. TRAI has been in direct contact with tens of thousands of people by organizing hundreds of events; TRAI Meet-Ups, artificial intelligence seminars, artificial intelligence summits, and demo days.
In 2017, there were 20 artificial intelligence initiatives in the TRAI ecosystem. As of November 2020, over 150 initiatives have been featured on this map. TRAI helped these initiatives to meet with academic and the private sector professionals to create joint projects, find investors and expand abroad.
There are not only start-ups within the TRAI ecosystem, but also more than 50 leading private sector companies. Through working closing with the teams in these companies, we contribute to the development and spread of artificial intelligence in Turkey. The TRAI team consists of a core of 5 people who prepare rich content, the largest artificial intelligence summit of our country and the Turkey Artificial Intelligence Week activities, held in October 2020. We are leading the artificial intelligence ecosystem in our country to meet with other leading ecosystems in the world. In summary, TRAI has made important contributions to our country’s participation in the artificial intelligence race and we are looking forward to growing into the future.

The Turkish Artificial Intelligence Initiative is a multi-stakeholder organisation with broad participation, believing in open communication and sharing. For this reason, it has included all stakeholders of the subject in its processes since the day it was first established. The Turkish Artificial Intelligence Initiative has three Advisory Boards and an Investor Committee: The Advisory Board and the Investor Committee guide TRAI’s work. They contribute to the determination of the goals, objectives, and priorities of the TRAI team. Members of these boards represent TRAI in their own environment and work. Members of these committees contribute to the gathering of AI-related issues and stakeholders aiming for the development of the artificial intelligence ecosystem.
